A self-guided quest on your smartphone. A bot in Telegram or MAX leads you from the Theater-Theater along the esplanade and Lenin Street to merchant mansions and the River Station on the Kama, asking questions whose answers can only be seen on the spot: on lamps, monuments and facades. No guide needed, start any time, one phone is enough for the whole group.
More about this event
You've probably heard that Perm locals are called "salty ears." But did you know that on the facade of an old building in the city center there's a city "oracle" accessible to any passerby? Or that one of Perm's oldest churches once housed a pharmaceutical institute? This quest is about stories like these: they're hidden in facades and monuments in plain sight. How it works • The bot sends you a task and hints where to go next. • You find the answer with your eyes, not a search engine: it's hidden in a facade, sculpture or city detail. • For each answer you get a short story about the place, in text and audio. If you get stuck, take a hint: it will tell you where to look, but won't give away the answer. Route • Theater-Theater: lamps inhabited by literary characters • "To the Heroes of the Front and Rear": three bronze figures, and one of them is not a person but an image • Legislative Assembly: austere modernism with one unusual detail • "Perm Bear": the city's symbol, rubbed for good luck • "Permyak — Salty Ears": a monument to the old nickname of Perm locals • Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos: a detail returned to the church in 2016 • "Kilometer Zero": a sign for the city's 300th anniversary and the plant where it all began • Smyshlyaev House: a city "oracle" right on the facade • Tretyakova House: the home of a photographer, professor and avant-garde artist • River Station: the finale on the Kama by a building that took eight years to construct Sample tasks • Near the Theater-Theater, characters from famous plays are hiding. By what nickname is Brecht's heroine known? • The "Kilometer Zero" sign depicts the enterprise where Perm began. What metal was produced there? • Take a closer look at the River Station. What does the appearance of this building remind you of? How difficult is it The tasks are about what's right in front of you, so attentiveness matters more here than erudition. Who it's for • Visitors to Perm: in one walk you'll see the city's main symbols and reach the Kama. • Perm locals who walk along Lenin and Sibirskaya every day but have never looked closely at these details. • Families with children aged 6 and up: searching and counting is more fun than listening to a lecture. • Groups of friends: one phone for everyone, and you can argue over who finds the answer first.
