More about this excursion

Today, no one is surprised by the famous Teriberka and the Rybachy and Sredny peninsulas. The Khibiny Mountains, waterfalls, clear streams, and lakes. Even visiting the Kola Superdeep Borehole has become possible — and we are going, going to see all this, following well-trodden routes. Traveling along the highway from Murmansk to the Khibiny Mountains and back, we indifferently cast a glance at the smoking chimneys in the middle of the tundra, and that's it. But in vain... It is known that there are more than 14,000 lakes on the Kola Peninsula. The largest of them is Lake Imandra. It is on its shores that the cozy town of Monchegorsk is located, nestled among many lakes. Here is a paradise for 'adventure tourism' (the 'Viking Trail' is located in the vicinity); various competitions are regularly held here (running, race walking, trail running, sailing regattas); there is plenty to see and explore in the city (have you ever been to Leninsky Prospekt embankment?). This is what we propose — to see the unconventional Kola!

1. Morning, 08:00 — departure from Murmansk, 09:30–10:00 — arrival in Monchegorsk. 2. Walk along the central streets of the city, history of the city's origin. 3. Central Park. 4. Museum of colored stones. 5. Leninsky Prospekt embankment. 6. Holy Ascension Cathedral. 7*. In the warm season: - Transfer by boat along Lake Imandra to Rizh Guba and Rakkard parking area, walk to the lighthouse, along the 'Viking Trail'; - For the most prepared — a walk along the 'Geologists' Trail' (cost in 'Additional Services'). 8. Lunch in one of Monchegorsk's cafes. 9. Return to Murmansk (transfer to Khibiny and Murmansk airports is possible).
