More about this event

Merchant ambition, a bold engineering spirit and fairground energy — that's how Saratov's character took shape in the Golden Age. Did you know that above the coat of arms on the Covered Market the architect placed a completely different symbol instead of a crown? Or that the balcony of one mansion became a symbol that newlyweds come here especially to see? This quest is about the living stories behind old facades: merchants, artists, engineers and politicians. How it works • The bot sends you a task and hints where to go next. • You look for the answer with your own eyes, not in a search engine: it's hidden in stucco, panels or sculptures. • For each answer you get a short story about the place, in text and audio. If you get stuck, take a hint: it will tell you where to look, but won't give away the answer. Route • Covered Market: a food palace with a quiet castling in its coat of arms • Nikitin House: circus brothers on the facade • Tillo Mansion: an oriental pattern with a Latin letter • Ert House: a rare early 20th-century advertising panel • Schnittke Philharmonic: instruments that proclaim the truth • Reineke Mansion: idyll and battle on one facade • Schmidt Mansion: a symbol of enlightenment in stucco • Borel Mansion: the balcony that became a symbol for newlyweds • Skvortsov Mansion: stone guardians at the entrance • Kuffeld Gymnasium: a knot in the pediment decor • Stolypin Monument: a detail that recalls labor • Bas-relief on Chernyshevsky Square: famous Saratovians in stone • Conservatory: an "elevator" turned into a fairy-tale palace • Stolypin Avenue: the finale on the former German Street Sample tasks • Look at the facade of the Covered Market. What did the architect place above the coat of arms instead of a crown? • How many stone representatives of the animal kingdom can you see at the entrance to the Skvortsov Mansion? • Find the warriors on the panel of the Reineke Mansion. Which element of their protection is still relevant today? How difficult it is The tasks are about what you see right in front of you, so attentiveness matters more here than erudition. Who it's for • Visitors to Saratov: in one walk you'll see the historic center and remember stories, not dates. • Saratovians who have never looked closely at these facades. • Families with children aged 6 and up: searching and counting is more fun than listening to a lecture. • Groups of friends: one phone for everyone, and you can argue over who finds the answer first.
